NEW NAME — SAME SPIRIT
For ten years, the centre carried the name of the man whose legacy it was built to honour — Yosi Ocha.
In 2024, a new cycle called for a new name — one that reflects the essence of this work — Onikano.
The land is the same.
The lineage is the same.
The Maestro is the same.
The spirit is the same.

THE MEANING OF ONIKANO
The name Onikano emerges from two concepts that lie at the heart of the Shipibo tradition.
- ONI is the Shipibo word for Ayahuasca — the sacred plant medicine at the heart of this work.
- KANO is the energetic essence that each medicine carries within it. Every plant, every ceremony, every ritual — Ayahuasca, San Pedro, the master plant dietas, the aura-cleansing baths, the mapacho, the rapé, the ícaros — each one holds its own kano, its own vital energy. The Maestro works with these energies, alongside each person’s life force, to guide the healing process.
Together, they form Onikano — the medicine, and the energy within it.
A LIVING TRADITION

This change does not mark a beginning. It reflects a natural step in the evolution of this work — a clearer expression of what has been practised on this land from the beginning.
Rooted in Shipibo tradition and passed from master to apprentice across generations, it continues through ceremony, ritual and long-term paths of learning for those called to go deeper.
Whether you come to heal, to reconnect, or to go deeper into the work, Onikano remains what it has always been — a place of presence, integrity and respect.
